Sintra National Palace

Unfortunately we didn't visit the National Palace. Some other time. This postcard was sent by José "PilotOne"

Sintra

If I'm not mistaken, we had lunch in that street. This postcard was sent by Vitória

Sintra - Regaleira Palace

The Regaleira Palace was not included in the set of monuments to where we had tickets, but we also visited it. And it was totally worth it. It's a magic place. This postcard was sent by Ana "Ninocas"

Sintra - Regaleira Palace and Castle of the Moors

The view from the Castle of the Moors is wonderful.

Sintra - Monserrate Palace

The Monserrate Palace is also an amazing building

We bought a ticket that included visits to 4 monuments: Pena National Palace, Castle of the Moors, Monserrate Palace and Convent of the Capuchos. This postcard shows three of those 4 we visited plus the Sintra National Palace. Of the convent of the Capuchos I didn't find postcards.

Sintra is one of those places where I hope to return. This postcard was sent by Leninha

Sintra - Pena Palace

My cousin Isabel also visited Sintra and brought me this postcard

Fátima - Church of Santíssima Trindade

Although I don't like going to Fátima very much, I have to admit that the sanctuary is a beautiful monument, far more beautiful than the relatively recent church of Santíssima Trindade.

Fátima Sanctuary

This postcard was sent by his author, but I don't remember his name and I can't understand the signature

Fátima Sanctuary

I ended up going several times with members of my family, always a little upset but looking forward to buy another postcard

Fátima Sanctuary

I remember the first time I went to Fátima. I was a child and hated it. All I remember is the desperation on people's faces, waiting for a miracle. Even these days I don't really like going there

Fátima Sanctuary

Fátima was the second place from where I bought a postcard and it was this postcard

Tomar - Convent of Christ (Detail of the church main door)

This postcard was sent by José "PilotOne"

Tomar - Convent of Christ (Interior of the Rotunda)

One of the things we liked most in the Convent was the rotunda

Tomar - Convent of Christ (Exterior of the Rotunda)

When I decided to start collecting postcards of UNESCO World Heritage sites I had already all the sites of the Portuguese mainland. In fact, that was a stimulus, because even if there were only 10 at the time, it's always better than start from zero

Tomar - Convent of Christ (Church main door)

The Convent is listed as World Heritage and once again a wasn't collecting postcards of UNESCO sites yet when I visited it, but I bought a few because I was collecting postcards of the places I visited since I was a teenager

Tomar - Convent of Christ (Chapter-house Window)

The main attraction of Tomar is the Convent of Christ and the main attraction of the convent is this amazing window. I remember seeing this window in my history books and I always thought that it was a little window but when I saw it live I realized that is huge!

Tomar Church

By the end of 2009 my in-laws moved to Switzerland and my wife was sad, so I took her for a great weekend in the center region of Portugal, which included a visit to Tomar. Three years later we also moved to Switzerland

We were not very far from Pombal but we didn't go there. Maybe one day we'll visit the castle. The postcard was sent by José "Pombal"
