Amarante - Bridge and Convent of São Gonçalo

The bridge of Amarante had an important role in the Peninsular War. It was defended by the Portuguese so the Napoleonic troops couldn't cross the river. This gave time for the Portuguese and British armies to organize to defeat the French.
