Painting by "Mestre do Sardoal"

 The "Mestre do Sardoal" or "Mestres do Sardoal" are today frequently identified with the workshop, based in Coimbra, owned by Vicente Gil, continued by his son Manuel Vicente and grandson Bernardo Manuel. They left some important paintings in the church of Sardoal.

I've never been to the Entroncamento National Railway Museum but I've been to the train museum in the city where I live several times.

Dornes, Ferreira Do Zêzere

 It was in Dornes that the Portuguese film Dot.Com was shooted

Ruins of the Roman Villa of Cardílio, Torres Novas

 I've never been to Torres Novas and I didn't know about these ruins. Yet another proof that postcards are a great way to learn!

Tagus River, Abrantes

 I was in Vila Nova da Barquinha and at the Tourist Office they had a magnificent collection of postcards with places from Médio Tejo, a sub region of  central Portugal.

 We didn't take the boat to go inside the castle but we had a drink on the terrace on the riverbank with a magnificent view of the castle.

Almourol Castle was one of the Portuguese monuments that was on my “must see” list and I was not disappointed

Camões Statue, Constância

Constância is where the Zêzere River meets the Tagus River and I believe it is an inspiration for many writers. José Luís Peixoto, one of my favorites, also wrote about this city.

 This has been a very busy year, but we've been to a lot of places we've never been before. Constância was one of those places
